This flag fabric is woven from extremely strong 'open-end' spun polyester yarns of 155 gr/m². The fibres are industrially coloured in advance, which means that the lightness (u.v.-resistance) is considerably higher than that of flags from screen printing and much better than that of digitally printed flags. The technical explanation behind this special spun polyester flag material

The spun polyester yarns are composed of chopped fibres which gives the flag fabric a "woolly" grip and a classic look. Spun polyester is therefore most reminiscent of the cotton ship flag fabric of the past. However, they are fully synthetic fibres, in which 3 threads are woven as heavy cotton. This gives this flag material its robust and beautiful appearance. The weight of this flag fabric varies from 155 to 160 grams per square meter. Due to the special weaving process and the extremely strong yarns, the flag fabric has the highest tear resistance and tensile strength, as a result of which the lifespan of this flag material is at least 2x longer than standard flag fabric. The story behind the high UV resistance of this spun polyester flag material

The yarns are also in and in the solution already dyed, so called solution dyed. This means that the dyes are fully absorbed by the fibres of the flag fabric, which gives a considerably higher colour and lightfastness/u.v.-resistance. In the case of dyed fibres in the solution, the pigment dyes are already absorbed into the polyester fibres during the spinning process. The dye molecules penetrate the fibre structure when it is swollen by the high dye temperature. After cooling, the dye molecules are trapped in the molecular lattice of the filaments. In this way, the dyes become an integral part of the polyester fibres and therefore also of the flag material. Roughly speaking, the polyester yarns used are not only dyed on the outside, but also on the inside. This property is a decisive quality criterion for flag fabric, because spun dyed yarns have a significantly higher lightfastness than today's modern flag fabrics, and thus a much longer life span.
