Outdoor-Pro is the innovation in the field of bonded water repellent polyester sewing thread from Amann, the renowned German sewing thread giant. Although Amann already had the strong sailmaking thread Serabond in its range, Outdoor-Pro is an improved and modern version of this bonded polyester thread. By the way: bonded* sewing thread is much better than normal polyester sewing thread anyway! Because this new bonded polyester sewing thread is water-repellent, this sewing thread does not soak up water, as is the case with conventional (standard) polyester sewing thread. So where a standard polyester sewing thread leaks through or at the seams, this is minimised with OutdoorPro sewing thread (depending on the sewing method - see below).

TIP: when sewing synthetic outer fabrics: Do not use needles that are too thick, as this will create holes in the fabric that are too large. Polyester sewing thread - also known as bonded polyester - looks, feels and sews like nylon sewing thread, but is more resistant to sunlight and mould than nylon thread. This is due to the natural properties of polyester fibres. 
Regarding bonded sewing thread: if you are sewing at high speed and in several directions, it is advisable to use thread with an adhesive layer to prevent tangling and fraying. Bonded sewing thread is NOT STANDARD POLYESTER SEWING THREAD! It has a resin coating that prevents the thread plies from opening in opposite directions and sticking together. This bonded coating ensures a smooth, even surface and holds the ends together, making it suitable for very fast sewing, even with complicated patterns. Bound sewing thread also has the advantage that it does not fray easily at the cut ends and is slightly firmer, making it easier to thread and use with needles.
