FIRST PROCESSING of the film and PREVENTING SHRINKAGE
(P.S. don’t forget our double-sided adhesive tape so you can position the film – after ‘acclimating’ – exactly in place and sew. See detailed information below.)

24 hours of acclimating
Transparent window film can still stretch or shrink a bit. If there are many meters of film in the direction where it needs to be stretched, shrinkage can be an issue with fluctuating temperatures. When the sail stays stretched throughout the year, the film will stay at length and you will hardly notice any shrinkage.
Upon receipt: If you’ve received our window film, the material is freshly cut from the roll. Let it ‘acclimate’ for 24 hours so the film can process shrinkage or temperature changes. Also, don’t forget our double-sided adhesive tape to place the film precisely on the fabric/sail. See the confection videos below.
After a long period: If the fabric has been rolled up for a long time, the film can still shrink slightly with temperature fluctuations and will need to be re-stretched. This isn’t done by forcing the fabric back to its original tension. Solution: Keep the fabric under tension so it doesn’t shrink. So, don’t leave it rolled up all summer. If this is not possible and it’s being stored for winter, do the following: Make sure the sail is hung in a warm room for 24 hours to make the film supple. Then, slowly stretch the sail to allow it time to expand.
Another practical remedy: Use a heater in a closed room to make the transparent film supple, then slowly stretch the film.
